Amplification : We cannot judge a man seeing his appearance as appearances are often deceptive. Gold is a metal that glitters. But this does not mean that anything that glitters is gold. Brass also glitters when it is polished and so do gilded ornaments made of base metals. But unfortunately most men are carried away by the outward glitter of men and things. They think that when the exterior is so brilliant, the interior must be equally so and herein they make mistakes. Truly speaking, the real value of a thing does not lie in its appearance, but in its inner qualities. But unfortunately most people forget it. A fair face often carries everything before it. The world is full of both virtuous men and cheats. A villain may look like a saint, a fool may pass for a learned man, a cruel man may pose as a kind soul and so on. The devil may cite scriptures and thus deceive the simple minded people. This is why wise men advise us to judge a thing by its worth and not by its look because the look of a thing does not always reflect its worth. To judge a man we must find out the real man in him. We should remember that things are not always the same with them.
