 In today’s globalized world Facebook has become a popular social media for many reasons. Though it has advantages it has disadvantages too. Firstly, to speak of the advantages, Facebook is free of cost. Anyone can have access to Facebook. Only an internet connection is necessary. Secondly, Facebook nowadays contributes much to maintaining social relationships among people. Through Facebook, we can communicate with our friends and relatives at home and abroad. Thirdly, we also can express our feelings to others. Fourthly, on Facebook, we can upload photos, videos etc and can send messages instantly. All kinds of information and news become available on Facebook. We can know what is happening around the world. This popular social media has, however, some negative aspects. Firstly, the friends and relatives we are connected with on Facebook are all virtual. Being virtual it lacks the real warmth of face-to-face communication. One may have hundreds of friends on Facebook but there is hardly any emotional connection with them. Secondly, nowadays students are getting addicted to Facebook. Instead of learning their lessons, they spend time on Facebook. Thirdly, many adult people also get addicted to Facebook, neglecting their duties and responsibilities. Fourthly, excessive attraction to facebook may even result in breaking up one’s happy life or friendship. Fifthly, another bad impact of Facebook is fake news and propaganda. Criminals often open fake Facebook IDs. Through this ID, they upload obscene and harmful content that creates a lot of restlessness in society. However, all the negative aspects come from the misuse of Facebook. Therefore, we all should use this social media wisely so that we can reap its benefit fully.
